Jinder Mahal defeats Randy Orton to become the WWE Champion at Backlash

The crowd in Chicago was shocked when Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton to become the WWE Champion at WWE Backlash

Orton was busy on the outside taking out the Sing Brothers. He hit a double draping DDT on the brothers but that gave Mahal enough time to recover and he hit Orton with his finisher and got the pin to become champion.

We noted here weeks ago that Mahal’s push is because of WWE’s expansion in India. In India, he is being portrayed as a big babyface. They cut to shots of people in the crowed looking shocked as Mahal celebrated his big title win.
